Anti-tip lock — why it matters
The cabinet allows only one drawer to be pulled out at a time. This is not an inconvenience but a safeguard: a drawer full of documents weighs several tens of kilograms, and two drawers extended at once shift the centre of gravity beyond the footprint of the base.

This is a deliberate anti-tip lock. Two extended drawers shift the centre of gravity beyond the base of the cabinet and risk toppling it. The mechanism releases automatically once the previous drawer is pushed back in.
