Side stop RSM/OB/500 is a strip fitted along the side of a shelf of the shelving RSM with a depth of 500 mm. It prevents goods from sliding sideways off the shelf.
This matters wherever the shelving stands in an aisle or next to a workstation — a knocked package stops on the strip instead of falling to the floor.

Bolted RM or boltless RSM — which to choose
These are two different systems, not variants of the same shelving. RM is bolted together with screws, has sheet-steel shelves and powder coating, and a single shelf carries 70 kg. RSM is assembled without tools by hooking in the supports, has MDF shelves and hot-dip zinc coating, and the shelf load capacity is 150 or 250 kg.
The choice comes down to weight and conditions. For archives, small parts and a small stockroom, RM is enough — it is lighter and neater. For palletised goods, damp halls and places where the shelving gets knocked by trucks, RSM is the better choice: zinc does not chip, and a load capacity three times higher gives a margin for overloading.
Stops and safety at work
The most common accident at shelving is not a structural collapse but a falling package. A stop is very inexpensive and removes this cause at the level where it arises.
Stops are fitted separately for each shelf, so you can protect only those levels that hold small or round items — the most likely to roll off.

Frequently asked questions about RSM/OB/500
How many pieces do I need?
Stops are fitted separately on each shelf you want to protect. With a side stop, two pieces are needed per level — one on each side.
What do the symbols RM and RSM mean?
RM is bolted shelving, RSM is boltless shelving. In the RM series the digit after the slash encodes the depth in hundreds of millimetres, so RM/4 is 400 mm. In the RSM series the first number is the depth in millimetres and the second is the number of shelves — RSM/400-4 is shelving with a depth of 400 mm and four shelves.
What is the lead time?
Standard is 3–7 weeks. From November to January the lead time may be longer due to the higher volume of orders.
